Mamuju, mandarnews.com – Pemerintah Kabupaten (Pemkab) Mamuju melalui Dinas Kesehatan kini gencar melakukan gerakan untuk mempercepat penanganan stunting. Hal tersebut dimulai dengan gerakan minum tablet penambah darah untuk remaja putri, Senin (8/5).
Kepala Bidang Kesehatan Masyarakat Dinas Kesehatan Mamuju Dewi Sundari mengatakan, gerakan yang dipusatkan di Lapangan Ahmad Kirang Mamuju tersebut turut dilakukan serentak 25 sekolah.
769 siswi dari 13 Sekolah Menengah Atas/Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan/Madrasah Aliyah (SMA/SMK/MA) sederajat turut berpartisipasi bersama 1509 siswi pada 12 Sekolah Menengah Pertama/Madrasah Tsanawiyah (SMP/MTs) sederajat se-Mamuju.
“Hari ini serentak dilaksanakan di 25 SMP/SMA sederajat. Pencegahan stunting perlu dimulai sejak remaja,” kata Dewi.
Menurut Dewi, usia remaja yang sedang dalam masa pertumbuhan memerlukan asupan gizi, terutama zat besi agar terhindar dari anemia.
“Kekurangan zat besi ini menyebabkan banyak remaja putri terkena anemia,” sambung Dewi.
Anemia sediri disebut Dewi Sundari sebagai kondisi ketika tubuh kekurangan sel darah merah.
Akibatnya, tubuh tidak mendapatkan cukup oksigen. Hal itulah yang jadi cikal lahirnya bayi stunting jika remaja putri tersebut tumbuh tidak sehat saat jadi ibu.
“Biasanya wajah terlihat pucat, mudah lelah, pusing, dan sakit kepala. Kalau dia anemia nanti dia lemas, tidak sehat. Nanti menjadi ibu dia melahirkan lagi anak yang stunting. Gerakan ini tujuannya salah satunya juga untuk mencegah stunting dengan memberikan asupan cukup untuk remaja-remaja putri,” tutup Dewi.
